Mrs. H. A. Andersons Lodging House was established in1903.
Widowed by 1900 with two teenage daughters to raise, Catherine Anderson
Purchased the Commercial Street residence built in 1895,
from the local postmaster, Carl Christensen in 1903.
With the expansion of Mrs. Andersons residence in 1903 to present day size,
an advertisement in the March, 1904 edition of the Leavenworth Echo describes
"Mrs. H. A. Andersons Lodging House" as having
"Everything New---Clean Fresh Beds ---Reasonable Rates".
But on Wednesdays March 25, 1904 a few minutes after six oclock
a fire broke out in Mrs. Mitchell cottage next door to
Mrs. H. A. Andersons Lodging House.
The blaze stared on the lodging House and there was no water to stop it.
It looked like Mrs. H. A Anderson was going to lose a structure
from fire again when someone Yelled
"lets snow ball it"
and with many thousands of snow ball from the hands of men and boys,
the fire was put out.
By April 1917 the Tumwater Light and Water Company published
the Telephone Directory, Mrs. H. A. Andersons had been rename
Anderson Hotel and the phone number was 97.
Mrs. Anderson died at the age of 72 in 1925.
Crystal (West) Brisky purchased the Anderson Hotel in July 1946.
With the re-birth of Leavenworth in the 1970s the
Anderson Hotel was renamed to Crystal Hotel.
Mrs. Briskys died at the age of 81 in Oct. 1988.
Fully renovated and restored to its earlier days,
Mrs. Andersons Lodging House,
Now the oldest commercial wood frame building in Leavenworth,
Reopened under new ownership of Boyd/Lynch in November 1989.
After a few years the Boyd/Lynch partnership had too much fun.
Mrs. Andersons lodging
House was purchased by
